Hologarde developers to cast their net beyond France

12 March 2018

French air navigation service provider (ANSP) DSNA, Groupe ADP (operator of the airports serving Paris), and Thales announced on 7 March that they are “to pool together their expertise” for further development of the Hologarde counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) programme.

During World ATM Congress in Madrid on 6–8 March, project stakeholders indicated that Hologarde will be available for delivery to clients worldwide by late 2018.

Designed to detect airports and other critical national infrastructure sites from UAS intrusion, Hologarde employs the Gamekeeper software-defined radar from UK-based Aveillant (which was acquired by Thales in November 2017). Gamekeeper uses 3D holographic radar technology to detect UASs and other targets with a radar cross-section as small as 0.01 m2 , at ranges of up to 5 km.
