Icelandic airport operator Isavia has borrowed ISK12.5 billion from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for development of Keflavik International Airport.
Keflavik recorded passenger traffic of 8.7 million in 2017 (a 28.3% year-on-year increase). This is forecast to grow to about 10.5 million in 2018, as more tourists travel to Iceland.
Isavia will use the EIB loan to help finance several capacity expansion projects, including an extension of the South Building; a baggage-handling system upgrade; runway rehabilitation; and construction of new taxiways.
