Cavotec announced a “breakthrough” contract for its Sub-Freezing Dual Blower DX Arctic pre-conditioned air (PCA) units on 10 April, after Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) placed an order worth more than EUR8 million (USD9.8 million).
Under the turnkey contract – part of a modernisation project at Bahrain International Airport – Cavotec is designing, engineering, installing, testing, and commissioning the PCA units. The deal also includes delivery of in-ground pit systems, as Bahrain International tries to reduce the number of ground support vehicles required for aircraft servicing.
BAC already uses Cavotec equipment. In 2010, for example, the airport operator signed a EUR30 million contract for 18 PCAir systems, pop-up units, transformer substations, 400 Hz power supply, a vacuum evacuation system, and a potable water supply system.
