Air passenger traffic in the United States will grow from 840.8 million in 2017 to 1.28 billion in 2038, according to the latest Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) forecast.
FAA Aerospace Forecast 2018–2038 describes a 4.7% increase in domestic passenger volume in 2018, before slower average annual growth of 1.7% until 2038. International passenger traffic is predicted to increase by 5% in 2018 and by 3.3% annually until 2038.
Aircraft movements at US airports would total about 51 million in 2017, with slow annual growth to 60.5 million in 2038.
In terms of revenue passenger miles (RPM) from 2017–38, the FAA forecasts average annual growth of 2.5% and 3.2% respectively for the domestic and international markets.
