Spanish infrastructure group Sacyr is moving into the airport management market with Agunsa after winning a concession from the Chilean government to run El Tepual International Airport in Puerto Montt.
The six-year concession period begins on 1 May.
Sacyr and Agunsa are investing about EUR29 million (USD35 million) to develop El Tepual, with the aim of doubling annual passenger capacity to three million. The airport is being developed to cater for tourists visiting the Región de Los Lagos lake district.
The terminal will be expanded from 6,000 m 2 to 16,000 m 2 , a sixth boarding gate will be added, and extra aircraft parking space on the apron will be laid down.
