German conglomerate thyssenkrupp showcased its advanced visual docking guidance system (A-VDGS) capabilities for the first time at Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE) in Stockholm on 20–22 March, following its acquisition of the VDGS business of FMT.
FMT was one of the three main VDGS providers, competing with ADB Safegate and Honeywell, and its products are installed at more than 200 airports worldwide.
FMT technology (especially its APIS A-VDGS) complements the range of passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) manufactured by thyssenkrupp. Speaking to Jane’s during PTE, FMT Project Manager Linus Olofsson said thyssenkrupp can now offer a unified docking solution to airport customers.
