The first digital air traffic control (ATC) tower in New Zealand will be implemented at Invercargill Airport by 2020.
A request for proposal, released on 8 May by air navigation service provider Airways New Zealand, also described a plan to implement digital air traffic services (ATS) by 2020 as a backup solution at Auckland International Airport.
The staffed ATC tower at Invercargill will be replaced with a digital solution, initially operated from a building on the airfield.
