Vanderlande Industries showcased its FLEET baggage-handling solution to a Middle Eastern audience for the first time on 7-9 May during the Airport Show in Dubai.
FLEET replaces fixed conveyors and sorting systems with autonomous vehicle technology, to transport individual bags to the desired output locations. According to Vanderlande, the system is highly flexible: if an airport needs more capacity, it simply adds more vehicles. It is also resilient, so if a vehicle breaks down, only one bag is affected. Additionally, FLEET consumes up to 50% less energy compared to traditional baggage-handling systems.
“FLEET is revolutionising the baggage industry,” claimed Erik Westgeest, sales manager at Vanderlande Industries.
