Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, serving the Chilean capital Santiago, is to receive tower, surface safety, and surveillance equipment from Saab.
Following a competitive tender, the Chilean Directorate General of Civil Aviation ordered fully integrated tower working positions “with a ground display, electronic flight strips, and a general information display”, Saab announced on 8 June. The value of the contract was undisclosed.
The tower system will include Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) safety alerting. Saab is also supplying multilateration equipment and its SR-3 surface movement radar.
