Spanish airfield lighting specialist GRP Iluminacion has reported the first installations of its individual lamp control and monitoring system.
The unit is designed to sit between the lamp and transformer and uses the primary power cable to transmit signals to the Constant Current Regulator (CCR).
GRP General Manager Miguel Rivero Santana told Jane’s that the company completed 18 months of tests at BAE Systems Warton Aerodrome in the United Kingdom, before securing its first airport orders for the new product in late 2017 from Exeter, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Marseille.
A GBP6 million (USD7.9 million) runway refurbishment at Exeter includes GRP individual lamp control and monitoring of stop bars, plus more than 300 LED runway fixtures supplied by ADB Safegate.
