Heathrow vote looms as Airbus sounds Brexit warning

22 June 2018

The UK government is likely to win a crucial vote in the House of Commons on 25 June that would give parliamentary approval for a third runway at Heathrow Airport – although continued vocal opposition, possible legal challenges, and a ministerial resignation leave room for doubt.

Meanwhile, Airbus has warned that failure to reach a deal with the European Union on Brexit could result in its leaving the UK.

On 21 June, Greg Hands announced his resignation as Minister of Trade and Investment, arguing that he could not follow government orders to vote for the third runway, as he had run for office on a platform of opposing it.
