Cranfield digital tower to use R&S IP comms

06 August 2018

Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) is to provide its R&S VCS-4G IP voice communications system for the new digital air traffic control tower at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.

“With our system, Cranfield has chosen a seamless and fully-integrated solution, which addresses the airport’s current communication requirements, and is capable of being adapted and modified as the airport grows in size and functionality,” said Constantin von Reden, vice-president Market Segment ATC at Rohde & Schwarz.

R&S VCS-4G is a scalable, redundant Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system that complies with EUROCAE WG67 ED specifications for air traffic control communications.
