Datalink PAs reached record low in August

24 September 2018

The SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) on 21 September reported 4.4 Provider Aborts (PAs) per 100 hours of controller-pilot datalink communications (CPDLC) in August – a record-low monthly total since the start of Data Link Services (DLS) implementation in Europe.

A PA is logged when ground datalink infrastructure and airborne avionics are disconnected.

The SDM added that the delay between sending and receiving a datalink message (called a Round Trip Delay) is at 95–99% performance, thereby meeting all DLS requirements for the first time.
