Ground-handler SATS Ltd is spending more than SGD1 million (USD722,000) on digitalising its airport security system at Singapore Changi. The new system will integrate multiple video surveillance points, including body-worn cameras, to provide greater visibility of on-ground activities.
Digitalisation will replace manual processes for tracking pre-flight activities. For example, instead of manually recording the names and other personal details of cleaning staff, the new system only requires a SATS agent to scan a staff pass.
Safety of security personnel is also a consideration.
