Results of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Global Passenger Survey (GPS), published in October 2018, showed that 45% of passengers would choose biometric ID as a replacement for their passport if it enables a seamless journey through the airport.
ID management using biometric technology is not new. It has been widely applied across different industries, particularly where complex procedures are often required, such as finance and travel. According to a survey in 2017 by the Visa Group, 86% of United States consumers are interested in using biometrics to verify identity or to make payments.
