The planned merger between L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation, as announced by the two companies on 14 October, will blend the former’s expertise in aviation security systems with the latter’s well-established presence in the communications, navigation, and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) equipment sector.
L3 Technologies and Harris expect the deal to close by mid-2019, pending approval by shareholders and US regulators. The merged company will operate as L3 Harris Technologies, with headquarters in Melbourne, Florida, where Harris is based.
Harris Chairman William Brown, who is earmarked to lead L3 Harris Technologies for its first two years, said in a statement that the deal combines “our complementary franchises and extensive technology portfolios”.
