Brussels Airport Company (BAC) is stepping up aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) training, after signing a declaration of intent with the provincial government of Flemish Brabant.

The Provincial Institute for Education and Training (PIVO) and the fire department at Brussels Airport will expand ARFF training in collaboration with other emergency services. In addition, BAC intends to establish an ARFF training academy at the airport to include facilities for live exercises. The ARFF vehicle fleet will be upgraded and expanded and a disused aircraft hull will be used as a training rig.
