Ben Gurion to adopt iLane.Evo

19 November 2018

Smiths Detection is supplying 32 of its advanced modular iLane.Evo checkpoint lanes to enhance security at two Israeli airports: national gateway Ben Gurion and Ramon International, which is due to open in 2019.

Delivery and installation work will begin in May 2019. The value of the contract from the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) was undisclosed. Israeli firm Eastronics is supporting Smiths Detection with aftermarket support (apart from spare parts supply).

All lanes will be equipped with Smiths Detection HI-SCAN 6040-2is dual-view x-ray scanners that were previously procured by the IAA. The advanced lanes include automated tray return and diversion, as the IAA attempts to improve checkpoint flow amid rising passenger traffic at Ben Gurion and other Israeli airports.
