The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on 27 November that it had reached an agreement with Cobham over self-reported violations of sanctions placed against Russia’s Almaz-Antey.
Under the agreement, Cobham will pay a civil penalty of USD87,507 to settle three violations relating to the export of switches, switch limiters, and silicon diode switches to Russia by its former subsidiary Aeroflex Metelics to be used in commercial air traffic control radars via distributors in Canada.
According to an enforcement information notice issued by the OFAC, the violations occurred when an order for equipment by Almaz-Antey communications subsidiary Almaz-Antey Telecommunications (AAT) was split due to a lack of inventory.
