The multibillion-dollar acquisition of Rockwell Collins by United Technologies (UTC), approved by regulators in late November, will result in a new Collins Aerospace Systems business that includes self-bag drop, check-in, and identity management systems for airport passenger processing.
Collins Aerospace Systems will operate with Pratt & Whitney within UTC, which has also separated two of its businesses into separate entities: Otis (a manufacturer of lifts, escalators and moving walkways); and Carrier (a provider of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, building automation, fire safety, and security products).
Collins Aerospace Systems has 70,000 employees in 300 sites, with USD23 billion in annual sales on a 2017 pro forma basis.
