New York LaGuardia opened a new 11-gate concourse in Terminal B on 1 December, as part of a broader overhaul to add 72 gates in six concourses as well as two new arrival and departure halls.
The new USD4 billion Terminal B replaces an obsolete terminal dating from the 1960s. It will have 35 gates, including the initial 11 and seven more entering service in early 2020. Dual pedestrian bridges will be erected over active taxiways, connecting the main departures and arrivals hall that will open in 2020. Terminal B will be occupied by Air Canada, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.
