Boeing and SparkCognition are exploring the future of urban aerial mobility by launching a new company called SkyGrid.
The move comes four months after the two companies announced at the Farnborough Airshow that they would invest in artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies for unmanned aerial system (UAS) traffic management (UTM). SkyGrid is expected to use these technologies as a foundation to enable dynamic traffic routing, while also incorporating data analytics software and cybersecurity features.
Austin, Texas-based SkyGrid aims to facilitate the integration of UAS into global airspace, creating the potential for package delivery, remote sensing, industrial inspections, and emergency assistance.
