Airports of Thailand (AOT) posted a 21.69% increase in profits to THB25.17 billion (USD764 million), from revenues of THB60.53 million, for the year ended 30 September 2018.
In an official report published on its website, AOT noted that rapid expansion of the low-cost airline industry has seen passenger numbers surge by nearly 8% this year to 139.52 million (80.49 million international and 59.03 million domestic), while flight numbers increased by 6.24% to 874,999.
Furthermore, the decision by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to remove Thailand from a list of countries with significant safety concerns has allowed airlines to increase services and the number of flights.
