Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions (SDATS) will be the air navigation service provider (ANSP) for traffic at Örnsköldsvik and Sundsvall-Timrå airports in Sweden from 1 January 2019, with flights controlled via the R-TWR remote tower solution from the SDATS centre in Sundsvall.
The solution from SDATS – a joint venture (JV) between Saab and LFV ─ replaces LFV-staffed towers at Örnsköldsvik and Sundsvall-Timrå. The deal lasts for six years, with an optional two-year extension.
SDATS CEO Johan Klintberg and Per Kjellander, LFV head of operations, each described the deal as “a major milestone” for the JV, which was established in 2016 to promote digital, remotely hosted (and cost-effective) solutions for air traffic control.
