Canada pioneers EoR implementation

11 December 2018

The Established on RNP-AR (EoR) separation standard laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) was introduced for the first time in November, by Nav Canada at Calgary International Airport.

EoR enables simultaneous arrivals on parallel runways, and it also facilitates quieter continuous descent operations (CDOs) for aircraft landing at airports, including runways in challenging terrain.

With EoR, aircraft cleared on RNP-AR approach procedures to parallel runways will be able to land safely simultaneously without requiring a separation minimum of 1,000 ft vertical or 3 n miles lateral, as required by previous standards.
