24 December 2018

Chinese e-commerce and technology conglomerate Alibaba is working with the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) to build a global smart logistics network.

The collaboration includes a 5.3 ha Smart Logistics Hub with a floor area of 380,000 m 2 at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). A joint venture led by Cainiao Network (the logistics division of Alibaba) won an open tender to develop and manage the Smart Logistics Hub, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2023.

AAHK stated that the facility will be future-proofed with high design specifications for large-scale, cutting-edge robotics and automation as well as temperature-controlled features for perishables and pharmaceuticals.
