Namibia passes ICAO security audit but there is room for improvement

28 December 2018

Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has passed a 10-day security assessment by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), but the UN agency raised some areas of concern that require improvement within 60 days of releasing the full audit report in late January 2019.

For example, ICAO asked NAC and the Namibian government to create a corrective action plan to improve security at Hosea Kutako International Airport. Although no significant security concerns were found, minor deficiencies were found that need to be addressed to achieve full compliance with ICAO standards. These minor deficiencies include improving the screening of passengers, baggage and cargo.
