Brazilian specialty vehicle manufacturer Triel-HT has adapted more than 120 Scania aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicles with a fully automatic Allison 4000 Series transmission.

The vehicles have been delivered for use at more than 70 airports and military airbases throughout Brazil, including the recently upgraded Viracopos/Campinas International Airport in São Paulo. Nine types of Scania chassis were modified, primarily the P250, P310, P360 FF, P440 FF, and G580 models.

According to Triel-HT executive Claudio Vincentini, the Allison transmission improves the acceleration of the vehicles by 35% compared with manual or other automated transmissions. Operators also benefit from better vehicle control and ease of integration, he added.
