Indian government policy to connect Tier 2 and 3 cities has received a boost, after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Saab announced they will research a pan-Indian air traffic management automation system for airports in the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).
In a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed during the Global Aviation Summit in Mumbai on 15–16 January, the AAI and Saab added a joint commitment to “explore potential avenues for co-operation” on Indian ATM. Under the MOU, Saab will also support AAI personnel training.
