European air traffic management modernisation (ATM) projects are delivering performance benefits, according to the latest update from the SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM).
The SDM and its stakeholders had completed 105 projects by the end of January, representing an investment of more than EUR400 million (USD458.7 million), with 225 more projects in progress and 19 in the planning stage.
Based on the results of the first 100 completed projects, the SDM expects total savings of 738,000 flight minutes worth EUR29 million to airlines. “By 2030 the number of saved flight minutes will climb to 12 million, representing a cost saving of EUR484 million,” the SDM predicts.
