NATS mitigates windfarm effects at Glasgow

04 February 2019

A Terma SCANTER 4002 radar system has entered operational service at Glasgow Airport to mitigate the affect of turbines from a nearby windfarm on air-traffic management.

Glasgow worked with NATS and Banks Renewables to introduce the radar.

Banks Renewables developed the Kype Muir windfarm on a site about 43.5 km southeast of the airport. NATS holds a 25-year contract to operate the mitigation service.
