Cairns T2 upgrade work set to start

(Cairns Airport)First-stage construction work on the Cairns Airport Terminal 2 (T2) upgrade project will begin on 11 February, after local firm Hutchinson Builders was awarded the AUD55 million (USD39.8 million) contract.

The project is due for completion in late 2020. T2 (the domestic terminal at the Australian airport) will expand to 10,000 m 2 , and the enlarged departures hall will include extra seating and an improved layout for a smoother flow of passengers. An additional 2,000 m 2 of space is also planned for retail, food, and beverage outlets.
