TSA stats show 2018 was another year of the gun

A total of 4,239 firearms were detected at 249 checkpoints around the US, marking a 7% increase compared with 2017.

More than 86% of these weapons were loaded and almost 34% had a round in the chamber.

Perhaps inevitably, given its status as the busiest airport in the world by passenger volume, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta topped the list of individual airports for firearms discoveries.
