Atlanta retains top spot for traffic in 2018

15 February 2019

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta set a new traffic record in 2018 with 107.3 million passengers, beating its previous best by 3.3%.

Beijing Capital International also made history as only the second airport to break the 100 million passenger mark, thanks to a significant 5.4% increase from 2017. This followed an overall trend of growth among all the major airports, with Shanghai Pudong reporting the highest increase of 5.7% and Dubai the lowest, at just 1%.

Dubai was the only airport in the top 10 to experience a fall in flight movements (0.3%). A 4.5% increase at Chicago O’Hare meant that it handled more aircraft movements (903,747) than any other airport in the world.
