For the first time, ACI World has published guidance for airport operators on how to defeat human trafficking.
The first edition of the handbook Combatting Human Trafficking (a free resource) provides real-life examples and guidance to airports on the options that may be available to them. It includes materials and advice to assist airports, irrespective of their size or location, to help them play a significant role in defeating human trafficking. The document promotes a comprehensive approach that involves co-ordination with airlines and law enforcement, customs, and border protection agencies.
The first step in combatting human trafficking is promoting awareness, said Saba Abashawl of Houston Airport System, one of the contributors to the handbook.
