ICAO and ICANN signed a memorandum of understanding in February that outlines how they will create a system that certifies digital identities within civil aviation. This is viewed as critical to the safety and security of air operations, as digital technologies become increasingly important.
ICANN is ideally placed to advise on setting up this system. “ICAO is eager to explore the potential of how our agency can serve as a digital identity trust-broker for global air transport,” said ICAO Secretary General Dr Fang Liu.
