Thales Group and Micro-X have formed an alliance to sell the latter’s mobile backscatter imager and develop a new airport checkpoint security system.
Micro-X has developed a range of products based on its carbon nanotube emitter technologies, which enable the miniaturisation of x-ray applications for security and medical use.
The Australian company recently demonstrated its dual backscatter, transmission x-ray imaging system at the UK government-organised Future Airport Security Solutions (FASS) showcase that was held in London in January. It enables the detection of explosives hidden in consumer electronics. According to Micro-X, Heathrow Airport has shown interest in the system with a view to developing a self-service screening process.
