Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) has selected a big data platform from Altibase to harness internet of things technologies for better passenger flow and improved airport operations.
The eponymous Altibase system is an enterprise-grade, open-source database. KAC, which operates 14 airports in South Korea, selected it after comparative tests with an Oracle platform.
KAC will use the platform to collect and analyse big data on flight status and passenger flow in real time to anticipate airport congestion, improve passenger convenience, and operate airport resources more efficiently.
