Blockchain enhances transit passenger processing in Dubai

12 April 2019

VChain Technology is working with Emirates and the Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) to improve the transit passenger experience with a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)-compliant blockchain identity-as-a-service solution.

VChain is working on the project for Emirates under the Dubai Future Accelerators programme. Among its objectives is the creation of an integrated platform that enables seamless airport processing for Emirates passengers.

By allowing airlines and governments to verify passenger information, VChain claims its identity-as-a-service system would reduce by 90% the need for document checks at airports, meaning most passengers would not be required to show their passport.
