Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has taken the first steps to implement an Airfield and Terminal Modernization Project (ATMP) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which will include a new 12-gate Terminal 9 (T9) and an 11-gate Concourse O, among other major projects.
On approval of environmental and related studies, which could take a year to complete, the ATMP would be submitted for further approval. This means that construction would begin in 2021 “at the earliest”, a LAWA source told Jane’s .
The site for T9 is separated from the central LAX terminal complex by a major motorway (Sepulveda Boulevard).
