Dammam operator announces expansion

03 May 2019

Dammam Airports Company (DACO), the privately held operator of King Fahd International Airport in Saudi Arabia, is to expand its passenger terminal and cargo-handling infrastructure.

Speaking during the Airport Show 2019, held in Dubai on 29 April to 1 May, DACO CEO Turki Abdullah Aljawini said the plan is to raise annual passenger capacity to 15 million in 2020, compared with the current 10 million. Dammam was the third largest airport in Saudi Arabia by passenger volume in 2018, behind Jeddah (35.8 million) and Riyadh (27.9 million).

“We are expecting a growth [in passenger volume] of 5–7% annually,” said Aljawini.
