The solar power system at Brisbane Airport is now fully operational, project partners Trina Solar and Epho Commercial Solar Power announced on 10 May.

The 5.725 MW solar installation comprises 20,937 photovoltaic panels in six sites at the airport, covering a total area of 36,000 m 2 . The project includes the largest rooftop solar panel installation at an Australian airport, and the largest commercial rooftop solar system in the Southern Hemisphere.

The solar power system at Brisbane will account for 18% of direct electricity consumption at the airport (and 6% of total energy consumption).
