Nokia has developed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) solution that could be applied at airports within a private long term evolution (LTE) network.
Nokia Drone Networks (NDN), which is powered by the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) suite of solutions, “is completely connected”, said Nokia head of aviation practice Richard van Wijk. “We operate it over a private [LTE] wireless network, which makes sense for safety and security at airports.”
NDN comprises Nokia-built UAVs, a private high-capacity mobile broadband network, cloud connectivity, and a control centre. The UAVs can be used to collect operational data and information, or facilitate operations in mission-critical situations such as emergency response or disaster relief safety.
