The Performance Optimiser (PO) software solution, designed by McLaren and Deloitte in collaboration with NATS, is undergoing continuous development to better adapt to customer needs amid the evolving challenge of managing complex airspace.
When unveiled in November 2018, PO was envisaged as a platform for air navigation service providers (ANSPs) to test the impact of various scenarios on flight movements. Following interaction with multiple global ANSPs including Airservices Australia and Air Navigation Services Oy (ANS) Finland, PO underwent further development to support goal-entry for scenario output.
Previously, scenarios were entered with specific parameters before an outcome was generated. Now the process is reversed: the desired outcome (a reduction is flight delays, for example) is entered first, and then PO describes the steps needed to achieve it.
