A sixth passenger terminal will be added at Dallas/Fort Worth International for American Airlines, officials from the two organisations announced on 20 May, adding that design work will begin immediately.
Terminal F – to be built on a site south of Terminal D – will include up to 24 boarding gates for domestic and international flights. It will be built in conjunction with an upgrade to Terminal C, at a maximum cost of USD3.5 billion.
The announcement follows several years of discussion and debate. The officials claimed that Terminal F could be finished in 2025, meeting the need for American Airlines to operate more flights from its hub at Dallas/Fort Worth, where it already has an 80% share of flights.
