More than 100 contract towers at US airports have been added in recent months to the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC), which supports unmanned aircraft system (UAS) integration into the National Airspace System.
The latest expansion brings to more than 600 the total number of towered airports offering LAANC authorisation.
Almost all the recent participants in the programme are regional, general aviation, and low-traffic airports in the continental US, although two airports controlled from the Guam Air Route Traffic Control Center (Saipan International and Guam International) are included.
