European carriers improve Chinese slot access

03 June 2019

A deal between the Chinese government and the European Union (EU) will give European airlines easier access to slots at airports in mainland China.

Until now, this was restricted to airlines owned by a company in an EU member state that has a bilateral deal with China. The new deal means that all EU airlines will be able to request rights to fly to China if slots are available.

The EU and China have also agreed to mutually recognise their evaluation and certification of aircraft and related products.
