The European Commission (EC) is allowing the French government to help finance a new express railway line in Paris between Gare de l'Est and Charles de Gaulle International Airport, by levying a special fee on all CDG passengers except those in transit.

The EC also approved French government plans to guarantee loans secured by the operator of the rail link, a joint venture (JV) between SNCF Réseau and Groupe ADP.
