The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has finally established a new Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) to help it create standards for remotely identifying and tracking unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
UAS-ID ARC members are drawn from the UAV industry, civil aviation organisations, aerospace manufacturers, researchers, and standards groups.
The committee is tasked with identifying, categorising and recommending available and emerging technologies for remotely identifying and tracking drones. It has been told to ensure that identify requirements meet the security and public safety needs of law enforcement and national security.
