San Diego International Airport has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a third-party operator of its Innovation Lab.
Bids are due by 15 August. The winning proposal will be paid up to USD150,000 annually for two years, with options for three one-year extensions.
The new operator is expected to oversee day-to-day operations and provide project management; advise the airport authority on build-out of the Innovation Lab; refine the website; and review submitted proposals and facilitate selection.
Airport managers describe the Innovation Lab is a "high-tech testing ground for innovative airport concepts". The 3,500 sq ft facility in the former commuter terminal at San Diego is equipped with ticketing counters, flight information display (FIDS) screens, and a baggage belt.
